All games played in this congress will be submitted to the ECF for grading. It is a condition of entry that entrants’ grading information will be published on the ECF website. Anyone objecting to this must contact the ECF Office in order that their details can be withheld.
Mobile phones must be switched off in the playing area, and must not be on a player’s person at any time during their game. Any player whose mobile phone makes any sound during play, or who is found to be using or consulting any device capable of suggesting chess moves, will be immediately defaulted that game.
Players arriving more than 30 minutes after the scheduled round start time will be defaulted. Players without opponents should expect to be re-paired 30 minutes after the start of a round.
A bye may be taken in any of rounds 1 to 4, provided this is requested with entry. However, a bye in round 3 can be requested on the Saturday of the event, provided this is done before 17.00.
Entries can be made online from the Congress website, using PayPal to make payment. Alternatively, cheques payable to Bury St Edmunds Chess Congress should be sent, together with the completed entry form, to Steve Lovell, Congress Secretary, at the address near the foot of the home page. Payment by bank transfer can be made upon request to the Congress Secretary.
Entrants’ names and grades, along with pairings and results, will be displayed on the Congress website.
Any photographs taken at the event may be used for publicity purposes. If any entrant objects to this, they must inform the Congress Director or Congress Secretary.
